Madelyn Grace Shoales “Trainer Maddy” Memorial Scholarship Fund For Athletic Training
Background: Madelyn Grace Shoales (April 16, 2001 – January 20, 2018) was a junior at Georgetown High School when her life was tragically shortened after a courageous year-long battle with brain cancer. Madelyn was in her 3rd year as a student athletic trainer, an activity she dearly loved. She was a straight-A honor student and member of the National Honor Society with aspirations of becoming a physical therapist. She also loved animals from an early age and volunteered at The Williamson County Animal Shelter. The courage, dignity and grace she displayed during the last year of her life will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved her. She truly was the ultimate hero.
Type: Active student athletic trainer at Georgetown High School and preference will be given to students demonstrating financial need.
Amount: A single $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior from Georgetown High School that has lettered as a student athletic trainer.
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY:
- Senior at Georgetown High School;
- Is an active student athletic trainer and has earned a letter in athletic training at Georgetown High School;
- Student has been accepted and enrolled in an accredited college or university for the upcoming year;
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale) in high school;
- Must submit two letters of recommendation from a teacher or coach;
- Must submit at least one letter of recommendation from one or more teachers.
- A brief written statement (500 words or fewer) explaining how you exemplify the caring, hardworking, fighting spirit of the scholarship namesake and why you believe you should receive the award;
- Please attach an official high school transcript;
- Attend an in-person interview (optional: to be scheduled with finalists at the discretion of the selection committee).
