Phillip King Tennis Scholarship Application
Background: Phillip King was a 1963 graduate of Lampasas High School. He started playing tennis in the sixth grade after having won a tennis racquet in a Lampasas Pet Parade. Although he was not a “stand-out” player in High School, he did show some early talents for the game, and he certainly enjoyed playing whenever he had the chance.
Mr. King continued his tennis-playing endeavors in college, and then played competitively in Houston, Texas for the next 45 years. Although Mr. King has been retired since 2011 from his career as a Certified Public Accountant, he still plays a rather solid game and tries to get on the tennis courts at least 3 or 4 times a week.
Because of his long-time love for the game, the many friends it has fostered, and the fond memories of his days in Lampasas High School, he has generously created this scholarship fund to award two recipients each year who are graduating Seniors from Lampasas High School that played Varsity level tennis.
